We’ve heard the rumors of a new vinyl bar coming to MidCity…and the first look was just shared today! As an avid fan of vinyl bars in New York City and Atlanta, I am definitely excited for the opening of one right in my backyard.

Enter Perseus Sound Bar to the Huntsville bar scene. The new mid-century modern coffee, cocktails and sound bar made its official debut on Instagram today, June 6.

The hi-fi lounge is brought to you by Nick Quinn, the owner of Huntsville favorites Phat Sammy’s, Goodland Pour House and Mad Malts Brewing.

Take a look at the construction progress and learn about their temporary residency at the Lumberyard now until their opening.

First look shared through announcement on socials

I was thrilled to open my Instagram feed today and see this simple post, sharing the green, Greek-inspired logo.

The new music and drink hub will serve Mediterranean inspired tapas, coffee and cocktails. Many are taking to the comments expressing their excitement.

  • Where: MidCity
  • When: Coming soon

Today’s post is just a teaser, and owner Nick Quinn is excited to share this space with the Huntsville community.

“Perseus Sound Bar is our ode to the deliberate act of listening, a place where the rich, analog sound of vinyl pairs with the fresh flavors of our Mediterranean-inspired coffee, cocktails and tapas. We aimed to craft an atmosphere that encourages guests to slow down, connect and savor the moment!”

Construction updates share by architecture firm, OFFICE La

We can start to imagine the interiors of Perseus with these glimpses of sandy Travertine counter tops and elegant olive and black tiles.

The New Orleans-based boutique architecture firm OFFICE La shared a construction update via Instagram just two weeks ago. This creative office has curated a handful of intentional, colorful and clean design projects including hotels and restaurants. I can’t wait to see how they transform this construction zone (and highly recommend browsing their Instagram for an idea of their aesthetic).

On Sunday, June 8, I attended Perseus’s launch event at Lumberyard, where they announced an exciting partnership for the summer. Until Perseus’s doors open in MidCity, Perseus will be manning the bar at Lumberyard.

Stop by to try their signature drinks all summer—I ordered the lemon poppyseed matcha and it was delicious.

Fun fact: Nick is unofficially calling the barista team “the ghost of Offbeat Coffee Studio,” as several former staff of the once-beloved Huntsville coffee shop (IYKYK) are joining the Perseus crew.

Vinyl bars on the rise: Ralph’s opening soon in Birmingham

Huntsville isn’t the only Alabama town expecting a vinyl lounge. Back in March, a new music-focused cocktail bar, Ralph’s Listening Room, announced their opening in Downtown Birmingham (expected late summer 2025).

Many record bars around the U.S. create similar vinyl-focused third spaces, offering coffee menus by day and cocktails and vinyl DJs by night. A personal favorite of mine is Stereo in Atalanta, which uses this same model.

Stay tuned for more updates

I’m excited to see what Perseus does with their space, and we’ll let you know as we find out more. Nick says to expect plenty of good vibes, music events and delectable treats. I can’t wait!
